About this site, and a little about me.

I live in New York City where I'm reigning hula hoop champion at Squarespace, the best web publishing platform on the planet. My business card says Senior Designer, but I'm also equal parts evangelist and user experience advocate. I've conducted workshops, participated in conference panels, and my work has been featured in both online and offline design showcases including Kirtsy's "Best of" book.

I come from a family of left and right brainers — musicians, software developers, architects and artists. We were all raised in a small beachtown where I spent many a day on the shore with my brother. One of our favorite things to do was to sit at the edge of the surf on our backs with our legs in the air. When the waves would roll in, they'd smack us on the ass and we'd somersault backwards up the beach.

There's something about the world blurring past you as you tumble and laugh hysterically that gives you a unique perspective of things for the rest of your life.

I eventually grew up, picked the seaweed out of my hair, and headed off to art school. I started my career as a Baby Art Director at a major ad agency, where I developed a love for design annuals, paper swatches and the high you get from press checks.

Somewhere between that job and now, my mixed up genes made me fall hard for web design. In the past decade, I've had the opportunity to create web experiences for major brands, non-profits, new media companies and noteworthy clients.

I love designing and sometimes I can't believe I get paid for it.

I also love divebar jukeboxes, handclaps, comically false eyelashes, vespas, spook show movies and beer salons. And, I still like to visit the shores of my hometown and do backwards somersaults.
